How to determine the exact error that is causing your XBOX360 Red Ring of Death (RROD)
So you have the red ring of death error, and wonder what exactly is causing it…
This simple method will give you the secondary error code needed to determine exactly what is wrong with your XBOX360 (If it knows what is wrong!).
- Turn your 360 on, and wait for the red ring of death to show up.
- Press and hold the sync button on the front of the 360 (Has a wireless icon next to it), keep it held down and press the eject button on the 360′s DVD drive.
- The lights will now indicate the first number in the error code.
- Let go of the eject button and press it again.
- The lights will now indicate the second number in the error code.
- Let go of the eject button and press it again..
- The lights will now indicate the third number in the error code..
- Let go of the eject button and press it again.
- The lights will now indicate the last number in the error code.
- Let go of the eject button and press it again.
- The lights will then turn back into the red ring of death.
Key To Error Codes
- All 4 LED’s flashing = 0
- 1 LED flashing = 1
- 2 LED’s flashing = 2
- 3 LED’s flashing = 3
An example error code (The most common X-Clamps fault) is: 0102
