Wii System Menu 4.0 Breaks Homebrew Browser

Posted in Wii on April 11th, 2009 by Nick – Be the first to comment

For those of you that use the Homebrew Channel and Homebrew Browser, here’s a quick headsup.

Installing the Wii System Menu 4.0 update causes the Homebrew Browser app to fail, the Homebrew Channel still works, and I tested quite a few apps, the only one that ceased to function is the Homebrew Browser, which comes up with a message ‘The Homebrew Browser is not a valid Wii Application’ and therefore it will not load, you can still put homebrew on your SD and launch it from the Homebrew Channel, but as for automatic downloads and installs, you are stuck until The Homebrew Browser is updated.

Posted in Wii on April 8th, 2009 by Nick – Be the first to comment

So you’ve heard you can run homebrew on the Wii, and want to know how you install the loader? Look no further…

Quick Links

Pre-Requisites

  • Awareness of the version of System Menu that your Wii has installed (You will need to know this to download the correct version of the Twilight Hack)

You can find out your Wii’s System Menu version by entering Wii Settings and looking in the top-right of the screen

  • An SD card (Maximum capacity 2GB, SDHC cards will not be recognised by the Wii) formatted as FAT
  • Some form of card reader connected to your PC/Mac
  • A Copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Game
  • A Copy of the Twilight Hack – See Downloads Section Below
  • A Copy of the Homebrew Channel App – See Downloads Section Below
  • An Archive application for your PC – Winzip/7Zip/WinRAR/WinACE etc

(If you are using a Mac, the archive utility will do the job – nothing needs to be installed)
